How to Turn Off UAC

If you are having trouble getting GMetrix to work properly, it's a good idea to turn UAC, or User Account Controls, off.

  1. Open your Control Panel.
  2. Find User Account Controls. You can do this either by doing a search for UAC at the top right of the Control Panel, or you can find it under the Action Center - Change User Account Control Settings.
  3. You will see a slider that says "Always notify" at the top and "Never notify" at the bottom. Pull this slider to the bottom.
  4. Click Ok.
  5. You will need to restart the computer for the changes to become active.

User Account Controls interfere with some of the processes in GMetrix. This is because the computer will try to notify you of things that are happening, changing, and copying within the system. Turing UAC off will allow the system to work properly. Please note that you can go through these steps again to change the UAC back to your preferred level after you are done testing.
